El Rincon Mexican Kitchen

Every month, I meet with a group of local bloggers to discuss our ups and downs, offer each other advice, celebrate our wins and help with any issues that we may be having. We’ve been doing this for over 3 years now and it’s always something I look forward to.

Not only do I love meeting with people who understand our industry but I love that every month we meet somewhere delicious for lunch. We usually all come together and find a place to go but this month I got to choose and without a doubt, I knew mexican food was a must.

We met at El Rincon Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar and it did not disappoint. El Rincon is located in downtown Carrollton on the square. I had never been to the square before and it is so cute – definitely a place to spend an afternoon shopping around at the shops after eating.

Like any good business lunch, I started off with a margarita on the rocks. I learned that El Rincon has a tequila of the month. When I went to El Rincon, the featured tequila was Tequila Ocho, a very smooth tequila. It’s one of those liquors that will get you in trouble real fast so I stuck with only one. El Rincon is also a tequila bar so if there is a specific tequila you’re looking for, they will have it!

Before our main course, we a couple entrees for the table to split. Pictured below on the right is the Poblano Enchiladas which consisted of shredded chicken and spinach enchiladas topped with creamy poblano sauce; served with cilantro rice, grilled peppers, zucchini and squash.

We also ordered brisket tacos which are some of the best I’ve ever tasted! The meat was marinated and cooked for over 24 hours and you can instantly tell the second you take a bite. The meat literally melts in your mouth. I highly recommend ordering this as your meal or as a dish to split between the table!

I love a good taco salad so I ordered a shredded chicken salad for my main course. It was the perfect size portion, it was served in a housemade tortilla bowl with iceberg lettuce, cheddar cheese, guacamole, sour cream, tomato and black beans. It was very filling and perfect for lunch.

Just when I thought I couldn’t eat anymore, we decided to try their dessert because – why not? We ordered two desserts, the Ganache de Chocolate and Strawberry Cheesecake Rolls. I’m fairly certain I ate the whole entire chocolate dessert by myself. Not my proudest moment but it was so good! Don’t skip desserts!

Stop by for either food or drinks, El Rincon offers $3 Crown and Fireball shots daily which is a steal. They have a reverse happy hour that starts at 7pm that you don’t want to miss!

Food was amazing and I’m looking forward to going back and spending more time in Downtown Carrollton. It’s such a great area and has some really cute shops nearby.
