Meet Rick Na of El Rincon Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Na.

Rick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I left the corporate world as a pharmacist in 2013 to create a family business with my wife and brother-in-law. We started with a franchise deli concept in several office towers to begin a path of entrepreneurship and grew to three different locations within a couple of years. We sold off the delis and created El Rincon Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar in summer 2016 because of our love for Mexican food. Our team hired a general manager and head chef to create our concept and menu during our R&D phase. In August 2016, we opened our first location in downtown Carrollton square. We learned a lot about running a full-service restaurant during this time – from customer retention methods and ways to connect with the community to networking and how to create a solid team.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every restaurant owner has obstacles they face! Being an entrepreneur is not a cookie-cutter path. Our team does not always know the struggles we will have day to day since we have different customers walking in and out of our doors every day, we learned this in the beginning.

We have learned a lot over the past few years – from working with overpriced vendors, making poor marketing decisions or even making the wrong choice when handling a customer complaint. We had to learn step by step what it takes to keep a restaurant open and thriving without a restaurant consultant. You have to have the fight to keep getting up when things are tough and it at the lowest point.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with El Rincon Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
El Rincon Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar is a Mexican restaurant located in Carrollton.
